The Order of Sen-Taur is a progressive spiritual organization with defined levels of initiation, study, and leadership. Each level represents a deeper commitment to personal growth, spiritual knowledge, and magickal practice. Below is the breakdown of each level, the pathways for advancement, and the curriculum required for each stage of initiation.
The Prospecticus represents the stage of learning and research, where individuals explore various spiritual paths and traditions. At this level, individuals decide what they wish to focus on and gather the necessary tools and attire for their spiritual journey. This stage allows the Prospecticus to explore Wicca, other spiritual paths, or a combination of beliefs.
To become a Prospecticus, one must make a written application (which can be electronically submitted) and undergo an interview (which may be done on Google Meet or in person).
Completion of the Basic Wicca course. The study is centered around The Complete Book of Witchcraft by Raymond Buckland. The course includes:
Written Test: A comprehensive test covering the basics of the course.
Verbal Test: A verbal assessment to ensure understanding.
Personal Interview: A one-on-one interview to evaluate readiness and personal alignment with the Order's teachings.
Once these assessments are passed, the Prospecticus can proceed to their initiation or self-dedication ritual. If they choose to form their own group and self-dedicate, their group will remain an Outer-Order group until at least one member is initiated by an Inner-Order member. They may then proceed to initiate their members following Order traditions.
To advance to Inner-Order membership, a Prospecticus must have all their tools and pass the in-person tests to be initiated by a 5th-level Inner-Order member. This initiation is performed skyclad, and it is the only time a member is required to be skyclad. It is a personal and private initiation. The 5th-level member may then initiate others of the opposite sex.
(This is not a gender-specific title; both males and females are considered Witches at this level.)
At this level, members are expected to commit to one year and a day of study and practice, including observing the eight Holy Days of the Wheel of the Year. The study is centered around the exclusive series Liber Mystica, a monthly book and workbook that are required to be purchased and studied over the course of the month.
Study core Wiccan and magickal principles, learn the basics of ritual, and engage in practical applications.
Completion of all requirements set by the mentor, including the observance of the Holy Days, ritual participation, and personal development.
Regular evaluations of the knowledge gained, often through verbal or written assessments.
Upon completion, the mentor will recommend the individual for ordination and elevation to the next level.
At this level, individuals must undergo an ordination and elevation ritual and demonstrate their ability to form and lead their own circle (coven). This includes the ability to perform both secular ceremonies and the inner-Order Esbat meetings. 4th-level members are required to file a monthly written report to the board of directors following an established format and submission timeframe.
Learn leadership skills, create and guide the spiritual practices of their coven, and perform key rituals.
Training in ceremonial leadership, including the creation of personal rituals and the leading of coven activities.
Regularly report to the High Priest/Priestess, offering updates on their coven's progress and their own spiritual development.
The individual must demonstrate leadership skills, have formed three covens that can function autonomously, and be ready for ordination to the next level.
At this level, the individual must have successfully progressed through the previous levels and demonstrated the ability to lead their covens independently. The High Priest/Priestess serves as the leader of their groups and will have at least three functioning covens capable of maintaining the practices.
Lead, teach, and manage the spiritual work of the covens, including the observance of the Sabbats and Esbats.
Perform advanced ceremonies, public and private rituals, and lead with wisdom.
Demonstrate readiness to lead by maintaining their covens and taking on greater responsibilities.
One can reach the 3rd level and be a High Priest or Priestess without advancing to the position of H.P. Honoris Praetor. The Honoris Praetor oversees the entire Order, including all membership and administrative duties of the 501(c)(3).
A title of great distinction within the Order of Sen-Taur, akin to the role of a bishop in religious hierarchies. The Honoris Praetor serves as the highest spiritual and administrative authority, overseeing the entire Order. This position combines spiritual leadership with organizational governance, ensuring the preservation of traditions, overseeing initiations, and providing counsel to the leadership. The Honoris Praetor is a title bestowed upon those who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, wisdom, and service to the Order, guiding its direction and supporting its members. There can be only one Honoris Praetor for the entire Order. Whereas others can achieve the 3rd level, they must be chosen by the current Honoris Praetor to elevate to this role.
The Eldar level is attained when the Order has a High Priest/Priestess capable of leading the Order as the new Honoris Praetor. When this elevation takes place, the previous Honoris Praetor is elevated to Eldar at the same time. The Eldar serves as the spiritual backbone of the Order and ensures its continuation.
Serve as a spiritual guide, helping to mentor those below and ensuring that the traditions of the Order are upheld.
Mastery of leadership, training, and mentorship roles within the Order. Provide guidance to the lower levels and ensure the spiritual integrity of the entire Order.
The individual must show wisdom in guiding the Order and strength in leading with a steady hand.
The transition to the 1st level happens when the Eldar feels they are ready to retire from public and private engagement, though they are always honored and welcome in any of the Order's functions, gatherings, celebrations, and activities. The Eldar must also be willing to step into any gaps that may occur and need filling by the Honoris Praetor, should the need arise.
This level can only be attained when the Eldar is ready. The High Eldar serves primarily as a counselor or advisor to the Honoris Praetor, offering wisdom and insight from years of service to the Order.
Serve as a guide, advisor, and Eldar to the Order members, ensuring the Order continues to thrive and grow.
The High Eldar’s role is to step back from active leadership and instead offer counsel to the current leadership, providing guidance based on their extensive knowledge and experience.
The High Eldar must demonstrate wisdom, empathy, and understanding in their advisory role.
